Halton Youth Service
Halton Youth Service is managed under contract by Action for Children but retains its own identity and management structure. The contracted Youth Service is part of the Children and Enterprise Directorate of Services provided by Halton Borough Council.
Youth Work in Halton provides a wide variety of informal social education opportunities for young people in a wide range of settings and includes residential experiences, sport, democracy, community involvement and the arts.
The service offers quality support to make sure that young people:
- Achieve, progress and develop personally and socially
- Make young peoples voices heard by encouraging youth forums, school councils and the local UK youth parliament
- Receive all the advice and support that they need to enable them to make informed choices and acquire new skills
- Offer a comprehensive generic, confidential information, advice and support service
- Promote and secure youth volunteering and voluntary action
- The opportunity to participate in programmes which offer accreditation for learning such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, AQA Award and others
What we do?
Youth service offers the support young people need to find things to do in their spare time and to help them be involved in education, training or employment.
How do we do this?
By building relationships with young people and by being flexible and pro-active.Young people choosing to be involved, not least because they want to relax, meet friends and have fun
Where do we do it?
Wherever young people are, in youth centres, in schools, on the streets and in parks.
How do we check what we are doing is what young people want and need?
- Work with young people to plan and evaluate all youth work programme with workers.
- We have the annual youth service survey involving young people in auditing and evaluating the services available to them locally.
- The quality of every youth service is assessed by Ofsted
