An author who launched a children's book at Runcorn Library, based on a famous Runcorn character - Billy The Town Cat - is giving a 'Ryhme Time' talk at Halton Lea Library - with all your favourite characters from his books.
Stephen Clarke will present Hazel the Hexe, Adele the Magic Spell and 'WOW' the Wise Wizard on Thursday 30 October at Halton Lea 11am to 11.45am
They are all characters from the author who gave us Billy - the much loved moggy who's 'tail' caused quite a stir.
It will hopefully get a 'cat'alogue number in Halton Borough Council's libraries, if it gets a publisher, so people will be able to 'paws' for a quiet read of Stephen Clarke of Runcorn's book.
His daughter Hazel - who illustrated it - is in the book as Hazel Hexe, the little girl who befriends the friendly moggy. She will also be along to meet fans.
Billy used to be classed as a 'local tourist attraction' as people used to come into the Tourist Information Centre specifically to visit him.
He had a loving family and he used to go home every night but he enjoyed visiting other places during the day. But his preferred venue was the TIC and his very favourite place to sleep was in the British Legion poppy box.
Staff had to put the poppies into another box so people didn't get a hairy poppy ...apart from that you couldn't actually shift Billy to get a poppy out!
Billy did not stop there, he went into other shops and premises and some had to make sure the cat was out before they shut up at night, or he would set the alarms off!
Librarian Alison Watt of Halton Borough Council, said: "We are glad to stock a book which has real local interest to people. It certainly adds to the 'kitty' of quality reads in our libraries!
"The rhymetime session will be interactive and feature a number of Stephen's characters. Children are welcome to come as their favourite!"
